The Outcome of Following Jesus as Lord
 

"And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And He saith unto them, Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men." - Matthew 4:18,19

Introduction: When we think of witnessing for Jesus, one of the first things that come to mind may be the idea of going out and preaching to people. This is in line with the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let‘s, however, look at witnessing from another perspective. In the introductory verse, Jesus said: "FOLLOW ME and I WILL MAKE YOU FISHERS OF MEN". Today, our Bible Study will center on how we can effectively be witnesses for Jesus by following Him as LORD.

  1. What must first take place before one can truly follow Jesus

     as Lord? (John 3:16; John 6:29; John 3:3-5)

  2. What does it mean to be a true follower of Jesus?. (JOY)

     (John 15:4; Luke 9:23-25, 57-62).

  3. Give examples of some wrong reasons for following Jesus.

     (John 6:27; Matthew 15:8)

  4. Explain the following verses in your own words.(Luke 14:25-35)

  5. What did Jesus promise a person who follows Him according to

     Matthew 4:18,19?

  6. How did this promise come true in the lives of those that

     followed Jesus faithfully? (Give examples in the Scriptures.

     Also give present day examples.)

  8. What is the result of following Jesus according to Galatians

     5:22-25?

     Him?

  4. Is this limited to only some Christians or all Christians?
